Application area: Ecosystem Dynamics Simulation method: System Dynamics Lorenz Weather ModelA famous Lorenz weather model – an example of deterministic chaos. The model was originally designed by Edward Lorenz in 1963 to be a highly simplified picture of certain weather related variables in an atmosphere heated from below: convection, horizontal and vertical temperature variations. For particular values of the parameters, this feedback structure exhibits deterministic chaos and is extreme sensitivity to initial conditions.
