HIV Diffusion and Syringe Usage

An agent based model of the injecting drug user network in a small area. Each user has a number of buddies who periodically get together at somebody’s place and use drugs. As the users share syringes, there is a probability of infection (HIV) being passed from one user to another. The model investigates two things: the correlation between the drug user experience and the probability of getting infected, and the impact of safe syringes usage on the HIV prevalence.

The model was created with AnyLogic - simulation software / Medicine
